Adapting

Our clinics are being delivered virtually and patients are offered either video consult or telephone consult, this ensures a streamlined service including referrals for imaging and secondary care if indicated. We are beginning to work towards 3 person video consults which will be beneficial for joint assessments with mentor/seniors/ESP colleagues.  We have a pathway for patients deemed as urgent that are assessed in face to face clinic with appropriate PPE. In service training and staff meetings are also being held virtually, meaning staff are able to continue with CPD and discussing clinical questions with colleagues.

Really interested to hear about joint assessments with clinicians. We need to consider how we support our AHPs and doctors in training so this is something we will need to start to think about across all clinic types.

Really feel there is value to be considering joint assessments anyway mindful of our service and many MSK assessments by our ESPs do then end up being referred onto community MSK physiotherapists so a potential joint assessment would be great, and potential patients could be identified at triage perhaps

I totally agree. I feel that in clinic a lot of joint assessments are via 'eyeballing' - so this would work in a virtual assessment. Lacks some precision though!

Hi, yes we find this a great learning resource within our team; those patients that are not progressing and where the clinician needs guidance. By seeing the patient together it creates a fantastic learning environment. With the introduction of video consultation this opens up the process to be more time efficient both for the patient and clinicians busy diary!
